General

AILA Sit & Play is a virtual learning system that provides a comprehensive early preschool curriculum for your toddler. Like a personal teacher, AILA adapts to your child’s unique learning style while managing screen time and delivering the right content at the right time.

Yes, there is a free mobile app for parents (iOS and Android).

The AILA For Parents mobile app allows parents additional features and smart control from one place.

Control 3 modes of learning: Broadcast for exposure, Learning Sessions for personalized content, and Lullaby for quiet time. Check In on your little one while AILA Sit & Play is in use. Send Media from your smartphone directly to the AILA Sit & Play -- Mister Goose delivers your pictures and videos as mail to your little one. View Learning Session Completed and Track Learning Progress. Review and rate your toddler’s learning session. Monitor screen time and device settings.

We recommend talking to a pediatrician to help decide how much screen time is appropriate for your child. That being said, our learning sessions are designed to only be 15 minutes a day, to maximize the benefits of screens, engagement, and education quality.

We do not recommend it. Our cognitive AI is designed to become better over time by adjusting to an individual learner. There are opportunities for family and sibling engagement in the themes learned everyday, however.

1. Restart your device

2. Reconnect the Wi-Fi (toggle the Wi-Fi button off and then back on) Please ensure you have updated your AILA Sit & Play to the latest firmware version, Version 1.0.70.47. How do I update the firmware on my AILA Sit & Play?

Oftentimes, this issue is due to the fact that the time it takes for the Learning Session content to initially download on AILA Sit & Play will vary with different internet networks. AILA Sit & Play must first download all of the necessary content through Wi-Fi for the learning sessions to begin.

Please provide us with your device’s firmware Version number and Serial Number on the form. This information can be found in Settings under “About Device”.

Curriculum

The Award Winning Adaptive Curriculum

Curriculum

Animal Island is a fun-filled place with animal friends ready to say hello, stop and talk, and play games. On Animal Island, there's always something to do and learn, and always an animal friend to do it with!

As long as the AILA Sit & Play is connected to a stable Wi-Fi connection, we will provide over-the-air updates and additional content to your device.

Mister Goose is an enthusiastic and kind teacher. He may seem a bit absent-minded at times, but we have a strong hunch that’s just an act! Mister Goose is the first to greet the child each day, he announces the day’s topic, and leads the children in circle time, storytime, and other group activities.

Fox is a natural leader, with a knack for turning small tasks into fun group adventures. She is full of positive energy and ideas. She’s impulsive and spontaneous.

Pig enjoys hands-on projects and tinkering. (He also loves to dance!) He is more of a planner that Fox, ready to break bigger tasks down into smaller tasks. He loves Fox’s energy and ideas, but is sometimes thrown off by how quickly her ideas evolve.

Monkey is an energetic 4-year-old. He’s rambunctious and fun-loving—a climber of trees and rocks who is sometimes off and running before fully knowing the task at hand.

Hedgehog is the youngest at 3-years-old. She loves playing with the “big kids.” Hedgehog is sweet, cozy, and eager to learn, but can get a bit “prickly” when faced with unfamiliar situations.

Mister Frog is a good friend of Mister Goose who teaches music to the children. He enjoys traveling and has all sorts of interesting artifacts tucked away in his backpack from his travels around the world.

Emergent literacy skills are critical to “getting a child ready to read.” Emergent literacy includes:

Letter Awareness: Child understands that there is a name and sound associated with each letter.

Print Awareness: Child understands the use of the printed word as a means of communication.

Phonological Awareness: Child understands that words are comprised of a series of sounds.

Concept Awareness: Child understands that there are words for objects, shapes, colors, and numbers.

Vocabulary Awareness: Child understands that there are meanings associated with words and that words can be used to describe their world.

Narrative Awareness: Child understands that stories have a beginning, middle, and end as well as characters, setting, and plot.

Another key factor in the development of literacy is oral/aural interaction. The more speech a child hears and uses, the larger the vocabulary and the more complex the sentences a child will construct. By modeling new words and language in context and by building on the interest of the child, parents have the power to encourage children to experiment with language. Curated, digital content can also enhance the learning and enrichment a child receives.

When reading a story, ask questions about the setting, the plot, the characters, and make associations with what a child sees in a story and “real-life connections.” Stories also need not be from a book. Stories include “narratives” a parent might share that models new vocabulary and sequencing. Stories are everywhere; they are in signs, in magazines, even within menus.

Most importantly, let the interests of your child guide you.

“Early math skills have the greatest predictive power, followed by reading and then attention skills.” (“School Readiness and Later Achievement,” from Developmental Psychology)

Children begin to notice numbers at a very early age, specifically a sensitivity to the concept of quantity. By building on this early, children can be encouraged to develop a recognition of numbers.

Recognition of numbers leads to the development of other number skills such as counting. While many children early on can “rote” count, “rote” counting does not indicate an understanding of “how many” in a group. Furthermore, recognition of numbers leads to the ability of a child to immediately recognize how many in a group without counting each one. This ability leads ultimately to addition.

Numeracy, on the other hand, is the ability to apply basic math concepts to everyday life. Numeracy begins with a child’s ability to count – fingers, toes, toys, etc. – moves on to the ability to recognize numbers and shapes on objects such as clocks, and extends to when children can express how many cookies they want. These foundational abilities will help a child solve problems, analyze information, understand patterns, and make appropriate choices.

STEAM, (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) is important because these five areas are part of our everyday activities and lives. Facility in these areas helps us solve problems, teaches us how to be creative and analytical, and teaches adults and children alike how to work through everyday challenges. According to the US Department of Commerce, STEAM occupations are will continue to experience a rate of growth nearly double that of occupations within non-STEAM sectors.

STEAM instruction in early education need not be formal. It is not about flashcards or overt instruction, but rather, STEAM instruction is about the things that children do daily. STEAM education can be as simple as pointing out why and how things happen in our everyday lives. Why does something fall? Why does something breaks? Why do two colors make another color? Children practice STEAM activities naturally. They build forts out of cushions, they pour sand from one container to another, they mix paints, they build towers with blocks. Through this play, children learn about the world around them and build their own theories.

Recently, STEAM has become STREAM to give recognition to the importance of reading and writing. Literacy is an important aspect of the curriculum, as it too requires critical thinking and creativity. Reading and writing are prerequisites to learning science, technology, engineering, art, and math.

Social emotional skills help children make friends, follow directions, and be comfortable in a classroom. Generally, SEL breaks down into the following three areas: relationship skills, self-control, and initiative. Relationships include the ability to get along with others, to make and maintain friendships, and to enjoy the process of playing with others. Self-regulation deals with the ability to control one’s emotions, to take turns, and to show patience. Initiative is the ability for a child to express their personal and academic needs.

A child will listen and imitate modeled behavior. These models can come from virtually anywhere, including home, school, and videos, and do not need to be from direct interactions alone. Children are always listening and observing. They may or may not model the behavior they observe, but they are watching the interactions and their consequences.

Positive SEL skills are vital if a child is to be successful personally, academically, and vocationally. These fundamental mental health and wellness skills help a child to adapt to changes and adversity, whether at school, on the playground, or at home. Learning SEL skills as a child correlates to success and happiness as an adult. Combining the teaching of these skills with academic learning provides a child with the tools to be more successful in the classroom and beyond.

Communication, Creativity, Collaboration, Critical Thinking

In today’s economy, mastering the traditional “Three R’s” (reading, writing, and arithmetic) is insufficient for students seeking to compete in today’s global economy. Today’s world requires proficient communicators, creators, critical thinkers, and collaborators.

The Partnership for 21st Century has included the following strategies to help children develop these skills:

Child-Centered:

Look for opportunities to focus on children’s interests.

Play-Based:

Encourage all types of play within the learning environment—dramatic, constructive, creative, physical, and cooperative play.

Cooperative Learning:

Provide opportunities for children to play and to interact with each other.

Blended Approach:

Connect online play with hands-on play.

Flexible Attitude:

Be willing to change the plan.

Differentiated Instruction:

Change it up. When guiding children, use different approaches and consider the learning styles of each child.

Formative Assessment:

Observe children as they play. What skills have they developed and what are they just beginning to learn?

Whole Child Focused:

Provide opportunities to help children develop skills beyond early language, literacy, and mathematics. Offer feedback and encouragement regularly to reinforce academic skills and social emotional learning. These practices will help children foster self-esteem.

AILA Sit & Play is a hands-free and safe virtual preschool learning system that provides an essential, comprehensive and early preschool curriculum for your toddler. Like a personal teacher, AILA adapts to your child’s unique learning style while managing screen time and delivering the right content at the right time.

Your toddler will sing along, read out loud, dance, learn ABC’s, 123’s, colors, shapes, words, and stories together with their animal friends. AILA’s programming also provides quality preschool experiences and social-emotional development to better prepare your child for preschool.

The AILA Sit & Play curriculum focuses on supporting literacynumeracy, and vocabulary skills. Integrated with this core curriculum, the interactions with the onscreen characters also support “soft skills” such as social-emotional skills, problem-solving skills, communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking.

Three Learning Modes on AILA Sit & Play allow toddlers three distinct learning experiences:

Broadcast Mode: This is the default mode on AILA Sit & Play for continuous exposure and fun. It plays all the educational content in no particular order so that your toddler can explore and pick up letters, numbers, colors, shapes, stories and music anytime anywhere. It’s perfect to play it in the background during family time and play dates.

Learning Session Mode: When your toddler is ready to learn, start a learning session with the mobile app. This mode is at the heart of your child’s personalized learning experience. Learning Sessions are stand-alone instructional units running approximately 15 minutes. During learning sessions, AILA assesses your toddler’s level of engagement, determined by physical, emotional, and auditory reactions, and uses that input to customize future sessions, delivering the right content at the right time.

Lullaby Mode: AILA Sit & Play is a perfect companion when it’s time for your toddler to wind down. Simply turn on the Lullaby Mode and the content will transition to calming music with soft animations that soothe everyone.

Animal Island Learning Adventure (AILA) is an essential virtual preschool program exclusively on a toddler-friendly device that is a hands-free, worry-free, all-in-one intelligent monitor and edutainment system, AILA Sit & Play™. Its innovative cognitive artificial intelligence platform delivers content that adapts in real-time to a child’s interest based on their physical and emotional reactions. Designed as 15 minute sessions or learning modules, keeping within the guidelines recommended by the World Health Organization of no more than one hour per day, the videos focus on one key concept per session using a variety of multimodal experiences. Multimodal experiences teach concepts using multiple modes. Modes are ways of communicating information in some way, including, but not limited to pictures, audio, speech, music, movement, gestures, and colors.

Parents, caregivers and daycare centers do not have to take the time and effort to search, curate and keep track of early childhood learning for literacy, numeracy, social and emotional skills because AILA Sit & Play does it all with its original series of educational content and artificial intelligence to deliver the right content at the right time.

Different from YouTube and other apps, there is no advertising, subscription or inappropriate content. It's a one-time purchase for life-time FREE updates as a virtual preschool program.
